It’s sub-district hospital not ‘District Hospital Kupwara’, govt clarifies

Srinagar: As government on Monday said that Kupwara hospital is functioning as sub-district hospital (SDH), the MLA Kupwara Bashir Ahmad Dar demanded action against those having erected a misleading signboard.
“Book those under case 420 RPC who have erected signboard on the hospital as ‘District Hospital Kupwara’,” MLA Dar said in the assembly.
Replying to a written reply by the Legislator Dar, the health minister Bali Baghat said: “In district Kupwara, there is only one district hospital situated at Handwara. The Kupwara hospital is functioning as sub-district hospital (SDH).”
The minister, however, said that efforts are being made to provide the facilities in terms of infrastructure, hospital machinery/equipment and manpower etc to the level of the district hospital.
“As you (health minister) confirmed that Kupwara hospital is a sub-district hospital and not functioning as the district hospital. I want to know who erected the signboard of the Kupwara hospital as “District Hospital Kupwara,” MLA Bashir Dar said.
“Those who are responsible for cheating the Kupwara residents should be booked under case 420 RPC,” the legislator demanded.
MLA Dar also demanded an inquiry to ascertain who is behind the erecting of wrong signboard and sought immediate removal of the wrong signboard and the installation of the correct one.
The health minister meanwhile said he will examine the case. (GNS)
