Expedite probe in murder of 8 year old Kuthua girl, demands Tarigami   

Jammu: CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami on Friday asked the government to expedite the probe initiated into the Murder of eight year old Kuthua girl.

Tarigami raised the issued in his calling attention notice and said the government should direct the crime branch to expedite the probe into the incident.

“Some elements are trying to exploit the case on political lines but the case should be probed irrespective of politics, region and the community to which the girl belongs,” he said.

“I didn’t know that girl but she is our daughter irrespective of her community and religion. We are concerned over her murder,” a visibly upset Tarigami said.

He said the government should come up with its report on the incident and also try to put an end to such incidents.

Later, responding to the MLA Kulgams notice, Parliamentary affairs minister Abdul Rehman Veeri termed the incident brutal and told the House that the case will be investigated properly in a time bound manner.

“There will be proper investigations into the case that too in a time bound manner and who so ever is involved will not be spared,” he said.

Veeri further informed said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by SDPO Hiranagar was constituted to investigate the case wherein one 15 year old accused was arrested as well.

“One 15 year old suspect confessed to the crime. The investigation reveals that the accused kidnapped the minor girl, put her in nearby cowshed at village Rassana and attempted to rape her. But when she resisted, he killed her by strangulation and threw stones on her face to disfigure her,” Veeri said.

He said the case was later transferred to Crime Branch keeping in view its sensitivity.
