DBT helped to bring about transparency in MGNREGA: Govt

 

Jammu:  Minister for Rural Development Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq Khan Wednesday said that the Department has taken a revolutionary step to ensure transparency in the system by taking various landmark decisions which include the implementation of E-FMS to pay the wages to MNREGA job seekers on time as sufficient funds are available with the department. .

He was responding to a calling attention notice by legislator Mumtaz Ahmad Khan.

The Minister said by the implementation of e-FMS, funds are being directly transferred from State account to the job card holders’ accounts.

The Minister said an amount of Rs.260 crore has been credited into e-FMS account maintained at State level for clearing pending wages. He said in district Reasi an amount of Rs 67.48 crore has been released for clearing liabilities on account of wages/material payments during the current financial year.

He said there are sufficient funds available in the State Employment Guarantee Fund Account and that the concerned BDOs are generating FTOs on daily basis and clearing liability through DBT. He said an amount of Rs 40 lakh has been placed at the disposal of BDO Arnas and Rs 30 lakhs with BDO Jagli for clearing the liabilities of material supplied by various agencies.

The Minister further stated that the works are being executed after observing all the codal formalities in vogue, while the Technical staff, such as XEN/AEE/JE/TA, also visits the worksites regularly to check the quality of works. He said if the MLA has observed any work being of poor quality the same will be examined and verified for taking necessary action.
