Uproar in Assembly over fair price shop allocations

Jammu: The opposition parties in the Legislative Assembly today cornered the state government over the distribution of fair price shops in the state.

According to the reports, as soon as the proceedings of the House started, the opposition members jumped into the well of demanding clarification from the government over the criteria for issuing allotments for fair price shops.

Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister and opposition leader, asked the Minister for food and supplies, consumer affairs and public distribution, Chowdhary Zulfikar Ali to cancel all earlier allotments and prepare a new list in a transparent manner.

The opposition MLAs said that allocations were given without their knowledge.
