Shopian shuts for 11th consecutive day

Shopian: A complete shutdown is being observed against the killing of local militants and 5 civilians for 11th consecutive day in Shopian district today.

Sources said that all shops, business establishments, government and private offices are closed in Shopian town today.

They added that Pulwama and some adjoining areas of Shopian district resumed their activities today after remaining off for 20 days.

Business and other activities resumed today and traffic was plying on all routes normally in Pulwama and some areas of Shopian district.

Pertinently two local militants and a civilian was killed in an encounter in  Chaiegund village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on January 24.

Thee civilians were killed also when army opened fire on protesters in Ganowpora village of Shopian district on January 27.

Notably On 1st February, a minor succumbed to his injuries after an unexploded shell went off near encounter site in Chaiegund Shopian.

Meanwhile 2G Internet service were restored in the twin districts of South Kashmir on Saturday afternoon after remaining snapped for last 10 days.

However 3G/4G  continue to remain snapped in Shopian and parts of Shopian for 11th consecutive day.
