Nadiya to ‘kick’ as captain for J&K women’s team

Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Football Association today nominated Nadiya Nighat as a captain of senior national women football team of Jammu & Kashmir.

Notably, Nadiya Nighat is the first Kashmiri girl nominated as a captain on Wednesday during a ceremony which was held in Odisa.

Presently, Nadiya Nighat is participating in 23 seniors women national championship which was held at Odisa.

Pertinently, 21 year-old girl, Nadiya Nighat from the Rambagh area of Srinagar, has defied stereotypes by becoming Kashmir’s first female football coach also Nadiya’s association with football goes back to 2007 when she started playing with boys in her neighbourhood. She was only 10 when she joined the Amar Singh College Academy for football coaching and was the only girl among 47 boys.
