JRL calls for valley wide shutdown against civilian killings

Srinagar: The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for the Valley wide shutdown on Sunday against the civilian killings in south Kashmir’s Shopain district.

Two civilians were killed and nine others injured after government forces opened fire on protesters in Ganowpora village of Shopian district on Saturday.

According to the reports, youth hurled rocks at the government forces in Ganowpora village. They said that forces responded by opening fire on the protesters, resulting into injuries to eleven people.

Reports added that the youth was identified as Javid Ahmad Bhat. He was brought to the district hospital Pulwama with critical head injuries. He later succumbed to his injuries. Another youth identified as Suhail Ahmad Khan, was shifted to PHC Bathipora where he was declared dead on arrival.
