Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that the security has been heightened in the Valley to ensure peaceful conduct of Republic Day Celebrations.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Munir Ahmad Khan told reporters on the sidelines of the full dress rehearsal of R-Day function here at SK Stadium said that every important day carries some threats whether actually or not but still “we have to be careful.”
“It is not only Republic or the Independence Day but security arrangements are to be taken on other important days including Eid, Diwali and others as well,” he said.
Khan who was recently promoted as ADGP and is acting as Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Range said that every force personnel deployed in the Valley is trying his best to ensure peaceful conduct of R-day celebrations.
“In view of the R-day celebrations, the security forces are trying their best to ensure the peaceful conduct of the celebrations and I am hopeful that R-day will pass off peacefully,” he said.
Asked about the Zakir Musa’s posters that reportedly appeared in Watergam area of north Kashmir, Khan said that such posters keep on appearing but they are yet to ascertain the authenticity of the posters.
“We are currently ascertaining the authenticity of the posters believed to be of Zakir Musa,” he said.
