Two teenage girls injured in fresh Shopian clashes

Srinagar: Two teenage girls were injured on Wednesday evening during clashes at Chaigund area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

The clashes erupted soon after the encounter broke out in the area between militants and the government forces.

Official sources said that two teenage girls sustained injuries in fresh police and paramilitary forces action.

The forces action followed after people staged protest and allegedly pelted stones at them during an encounter.

Both the injured girls were shifted to Pulwama district hospital for treatment.

Reyaz Ahmad, a doctor at Pulwama hospital who operated upon them said that both the girls have received bullet wounds and as such were referred to SKIMS Soura for specialized treatment.

He said that the duo had injuries on their head. One of them has least chances of survival.

He identified the duo as Sumiya and Sabreena.

Dr Reyaz further said that hospital has received also pellet injured. (GNS)
