Encounter rages in Shopian Village

Srinagar: A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Shopian village of south Kashmir.

SSP Shopian Shri Ram Ambarkar said that a joint team of army, police and CRPF cordoned off the Chaigund village following specific inputs about the presence of some militants.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants opened fire triggering off an encounter.

When reports last came in the exchange of gunfire was going on. (GNS)
