Ahead of Republic Day, security tightened across Sopore town

Sopore: Ahead of Republic Day stringent arrangements have been made across North Kashmir’s Sopore town to thwart any ‘incident.’

According to reports make-shift drop gates and barricades have been erected at many places across the town.

In Sopore town private and passenger vehicles are being stopped and occupants thoroughly frisked before allowing onward passage.

Such check posts have come up at all entry points in the Sopore town including at Bypass, downtown, Model town, Sangrama, Warpora, Seelo, etc apparently after an IED blast rocked the town earlier this month in which four policemen lost their lives.

Officials told that security personnel have been deployed at multiple places in Sopore belt and all the necessary measures required for the safe conduct of January 26 function in the town have been taken.
