21 days on, body of murdered goldsmith remains untraced

SOPORE: 21 days have passed but the body of the murdered goldsmith from Sopore has not been traced while the locals of Sopore including families and relatives of the victim today staged a protest demonstration at Iqbal market Sopore, demanding the victim’s body and also stern action against the accused.

Protesters including women blocked the road outside SSP office Sopore at Iqbal market for several many hours demanding  an exemplary punishment to the accused and body be handed-over to them.

They also shouted slogans against the failure of Sopore administration and police for being unable to  trace out his body from Jhelum.

Pertinently, according to police Tariq Ahmad Malik 32, of Kalaroos Kupwara was forcibly taken from his shop on 26 of December at evening hours and was strangulated to death before being thrown into River Jehlum. The accused later looted cash and jewellery from the victim’s shop after committing the murder.

The accused have been arrested, but his body is yet to be handed-over to his family.

Sopore administration has been making all efforts to trace out the body from river but has so far been unable to recover the body.
