Jammu: The Langate lawmaker, Engineer Abdul Rasheed Sheikh on Friday congratulated Galib Guru, son of 2001 parliament convict, Muhammad Afzal Guru for his brilliant performance in Class 12th examination.
Awami Itehaad Party (AIP) president here took a dig at other MLA’s and asked them why couldn’t they offer even a word of appreciation for Galib.
Speaking in the assembly, he said, while Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti announced a gas agency for pellet victim Insha but forgot not only that gas agency would not fetch her eye sight back, but also preferred to ignore Galib’s brilliant performance, who against all odds and despite not even being allowed to see his father’s grave faced the challenge with a commitment and performed excellently.
Er Rasheed added not only Galib but his mother also deserves appreciation who proved like a role model for all those mothers who had to face the burden of their children in absence of their fathers, especially those who became victims of conflict.
He roared at Mehbooba Mufti and reminded her of the claims she used to make over tragic incident of Aasiya and Neelofar.
Daring Mehbooba Mufti, Er Rasheed said, “If you could not do justice with Aasiya and Neelofar now when you are in power and forgot your cries when in opposition, the least you can do is to establish a Women’s college at Shopian in the name of Aasiya and Neelofar, who felt to the brutal victim of circumstances.”
Er Rasheed added that since government figures itself reveal that 90% female students in Shopian and surrounding areas are enrolled in various institutions so Mehbooba Mufti should establish a women’s college in Shopian and name it after Aasiya and Neelofar as a mark of small tribute to them.
Er Rasheed reminded house that if whole India could stand up for Nirbhaya, why can’t Aasiya and Neelofar be honoured after their brutal murder.
