Hajin: Inhabitants of Khos Mohallah of Hajin locality Tuesday staged protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to repair the transformer from the past one month.

The protesters blocked the Hajin–Srinagar road to mark a protest against the PDD department.

The protesters, mostly women assembled outside PDD office in Hajin and chanted slogans against the department.

They were demanding authorities to repair their damaged transformer at an earliest.

Witnesses said that the blockade of the road also led to the heavy traffic mess in the area. “Hundreds of vehicles were seen stranded on the road following the blockade of the road,” they said.

The protesters said that the PDD has failed to repair their damaged transformer, alleging it to be a reason of immense hardships.

“We are being forced to reel under darkness from past one month as the authorities don’t even bother to look into the matter,” he said. 

Station House Officer (SHO) Hajin, Saqib Ahmad visited the spot and assured them to take up their demand with the PDD officials.

Following the assurances by the SHO, the protester dispersed peacefully.
