First ever Oro-Maxillofacial Unit set up in peripheral hospitals of J&K

Srinagar: Continuing its efforts to deliver specialised Oral Health treatment and handling of Oro-Maxillofacial cases a dedicated Oro-Maxillofacial Unit has been established by Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK) at District Hospital Baramulla.

“This is first of its kind that a dedicated OMFS unit in peripheral hospital has been established in whole J&K outside Government Dental College (GDC), Srinagar/Jammu with an aim to handle maxilo-facial trauma patients and also for other complex procedures like sinus OAF procedures, TMJ cases, Pathologies (Biopsy & Procedures), Flap Surgeries etc.” a statement  issued here  from Director Health Services, Kashmir said.

Director Health Services, Kashmir Dr Saleem ur Rehman while focussing on the importance of OMFS unit said that the patients from North Kashmir who otherwise had to traverse for such procedures to GDC Srinagar can now be operated and managed at DH Baramulla.

He also said that the Directorate has also issued a circular for conducting Gap Analysis in Oral Health Sector to achieve better Oral Health Care services across all peripheral hospitals of Kashmir Division.
