Mehbooba Mufti pained over killing of four policemen in Sopore blast

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has expressed her grief over the killing of four policemen in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in north Kashmir’s Sopore town on Saturday.

“Pained to hear that four policemen have been killed in an IED explosion in Sopore. My deepest condolences to their families,”, Mehbooba wrote on Twitter.

Four policemen were killed and few others sustained splinter injuries in a powerful (IED) blast in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A police officer said that at around 10:05 am today, the IED planted by suspected militants went off near Haaritar area of Sopore resulting in death of at least four policemen while scores were also injured.

All the injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Irshad Ahmad (ASI) of Doda, Mohd Amin of Kupwara, Ghulam Rasool and Ghulam Nabi of Sopore.

Interestingly, the incident happened at same place and street and at same time where 06 January, 1993 attack on BSF troops was carried.

Soon after the attack army, paramilitary forces and SOG launched searches to nab the attackers.
