6 died in Chenani road mishap

 

Jammu: Six people died and twelve others were injured when a mini bus rolled down a deep gorge at Sarori village near Garrian-Dhanas , 12 kms from Chenani town late last night, reports said.

According to the reports, a minibus bearing registration number JK02Q-4527 was carrying a marriage party from village Pachot in Kud.

Reports said that five persons died on the spot while another succumbed to his injuries on way to the hospital.

“In a major accident last night on Udhampur Chenani road 5 baratis died 3 seriously injured,” DGP SP Vaid tweeted.

The police said that the accident took place on Sunday night at Sarori village when the driver of the bus carrying a marriage party lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into a 200 ft deep gorge in Chenani area.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Amir, son of Abdul Hamid of Pachote, Bast, tehsil Chenani, Mohammad Muzamal, son of Mohammad Rafiq of Pachote, Jugal Kishore, son of Suman Kishore of Pachote, Akshay Kumar, son of Jia Lal of Tringla, Batote, Dharvinder, son of Karan Dive of Chasoo,Chenani and Krishan Kumar, son of Kashore Kumar of Bast.

The injured were identified as Bansi Lal of Batote, Des Raj of Pathi Pangri, Neeraj Kumar (20), son of Balwant Raj of Batote, Rajinder Kumar (26), son of Rattan Lal of Batote, Sanjay Kumar (25), son of Rattan Lal of Batote, , Kaka Ram (28), son of Jodh Ram of Pachote, Pritam Chand (19), son of Vikram Chand of Pachote, Poonam Devi (18), daughter of Bansi Lal of Pachote, Ranjeet (19), son of Romesh Kumar of Marmat, Kaka Ram (19), son of Bishan Dass of Chenani and Krishan Lal (19), son of Kishore Kumar of Bast.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti expressed grief over the death of six persons in the accident.

She conveyed her heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls, an official spokesman said.

Mehbooba Mufti has also sympathized with those injured in the accident and directed the Udhampur district administration to provide all support to them in their medical treatment. She has also directed the Traffic authorities to ensure strict maintenance of traffic rules on the National Highway and elsewhere so that such unfortunate incidents don’t take place.
