Anantnag: The death toll in the Qazigund encounter in South Kashmir, which ended on Monday, reached to three with the recovery of the body of one more militant, Yawar Wani, while fourth militant was arrested, police said on Tuesday.
“Body of third militant Yawar Wani-a local was also recovered from encounter site while 4th militant caught alive in injured condition. Well done boys, “DGP SP Vaid tweeted.
The other two militants killed during the encounter on Monday were identified as Furkan and Abu Mavia of Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit.
In a tweet, Director General of police SP Vaid identified the two militants as Furkan and Abu Mavia.
He said that Furkan had taken over as Divisional commander of LeT after the death of Abu Ismail.
An army soldier was killed and another injured in the gunfight while three civilians were injured in ensuing clashes in Bounigam area of Qazigund.
Earlier bodies of two militants were recovered from the debris on Monday evening after the gunfight ended.
