Sopore: Police Saturday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered 16 bottles of codeine phosphate from his possession, police said in Sopore.

Officials said that acting on a specific information, a police party of Police Post Watergam laid a Naka at Wangam Drusoo crossing, headed by DO Watergam.

During naka checking, Sopore Police apprehended one person identified as Suhail Ahmad Malla, son of Zahoor Ahmad Malla @Ambani, resident of Watergam Rafiabad and during search 16 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from his possession.

Police seized the contraband drugs and subsequently registered a case under FIR no.74/2017 under section 8/22 NDPS Act in this regard.

“Investigation has been started,” officials said.
