Will respond to ‘serious efforts’ on dialogue, says JRL

Srinagar: Putting a question mark on New Delhi’s ‘talks initiative’, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on Wednesday termed the move as a non-serious effort. The leadership said that they will respond to a serious effort on dialogue.

Speaking at the Seerat Conference organized by Tehreek-e-Hurriyat the leadership said that New Delhi was never serious about the talks to resolve the Kashmir issue once for all. They also vowed to fight against the brutality against the imprisoned Kashmiris.

Even as the Government of India’s special representative visited Jammu and Kashmir twice during the current month to ‘pave for a dialogue’, the leadership termed his two visits as non-serious effort.

Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani while addressing the gathering here at his Hyderpora residence cum office where he is placed under house detentions since long said that they won’t surrender before New Delhi and will take the freedom movement to its logical conclusion.

Terming the GoI’s recent initiative of appointing an interlocutor and sending him to the JK twice as non serious effort, Geelani said that Delhi was ‘never serious on dialogue’.

“Whenever we will find any seriousness in talks then we will respond accordingly,” he said.

Geelani said, “Our people in jails are thrashed and brutally assaulted. It is the time to act against such barbarity which has now crossed its limits,” he said.

“We need to raise our voice against this brutality. Our prisoners are being tortured, subjected to physical and mental torture in state and outside state jails. We have only two options, either we have to surrender or resent all these tough and brute situations. We will never surrender and will pursue our rightful mission till the Kashmir issue is resolved as per political aspirations of people,” he said.

Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while addressing the gathering said that India has waged a war against Kashmiris.

“The prisoners are being tortured brutally and have been placed in outside jails against the rulings of Supreme Court as the court is suggesting to put the prisoners in the jails which would be nearer to their homes,” he said.

He also said that some elements are trying to divide Kashmiris among sects and religions.

Mirwaiz said that instead of indulging in such things, “we should unite and defeat their designs. We need to follow teachings of Holy Quran and our beloved prophet Muhammad (SAW) in letter and spirit and implement them in all sphere of their lives.”

Mirwaiz said the OIC has failed to resolve the issues pertaining to Muslim countries and the situation of Iraq, Syria, Palestine and other nations.

“The Muslim countries have failed to cure the wounds of Kashmiris. We should not blame the western powers for making conspiracies. They will do it. We need to look at ourselves what we are doing to defeat their designs,” he said.

He said the leadership has so far failed to come out with the solution for the problems the Muslims are facing globally. “Our religious clerics are busy in accusations and counter accusations. But we should come out from such things and should fight for our cause in unison,” he said.

Mirwaiz said that Kashmir issue is a reality and for raising genuine voices, “we are subjected to brute force by Indian authorities and added that we will never surrender and despite all repression and suppression, will emerge as victorious.”

JKLF chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik while speaking on the occasion stressed for unity among Muslims, saying that unity among Muslims can guarantee success as “we are facing tyrant authorities and their brute forces.”

Malik said that it is obligatory for religious scholars and clerics to counter nefarious designs of oppressive forces, however their silence is unfortunate and painful, added Malik.

Malik said that in these chilling cold days of winter, people in South Kashmir irrespective of their gender and age, are being dragged from their houses and subject to torture by Indian forces.

Referring to “all out operation’’ in parts of South Kashmir launched by forces, Malik said that “its main aim is to break our resolve and similarly NIA is being used as a psychological war weapon against leadership. We will never surrender. Despite all this will pursue our mission till Kashmir issue is resolved as per aspirations of people in state.”

Meanwhile, Molana Moin ul Islam, Molana Altaf Hussain Nadvi and Bashir Ahmad Farooqi also spoke in the seminar and shed light over the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and stressed to follow his teachings.

On the occasion, Hakim Abdul Rashid, Mohammad Yusuf Nadeem, Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah, Imran Ahmad Khawaja, Noor Mohammad Kalwal, Syed Mohammad Shafi, Mohammad Salim Zargar, Mohammad Yasin Ataie, were also present.
