Anantnag: The Minister for Forests Ecology and Environment, Chowdary Lal Singh is known for stoking controversies.

On Tuesday when the Minister was attending a plantation drive near Jawahar Tunnel he asked his police escort to remove the name plates of two PDP Ministers which the officials had planted near the plantation site.

PDP Ministers Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Minister of State for Forest and Syed Farooq Ahmad Indrabi, Minister for Hajj and Auquaf  were scheduled to attend a plantation drive near the Jawahar tunnel. However, both the ministers skipped the event which was to be kick started by Forest Minister and senior BJP leader Chaudry Lal Singh.

Witnesses said that the minister got irritated that the two PDP ministers have skipped the function and as the officials had already planted name plates of these two ministers, Lal Singh raised an objection.

“Why are you planting their name plates along with the fresh saplings when both have not attended the event. Let them come here and plant trees then only should these name plates be put along side,” he told the officials.

Singh, in his typical style asked his police escort team to remove the name plates. He told the officials of the forest department that when these two ministers will come here and plant trees then only should their name plates be put here.

“Hai Kahan yeh banda. He told them pointing towards the name plate of Farooq Andrabi. Jo yehan ayega ousi ka nam lage ga,” Lal Singh said.

Notably, Choudary Lal Singh spend more than two hours in the plantation drive and planted a number of trees in the area.

He directed the employees of the Forest Department and others to continue the process. Pertinently, ahead of the VIP moment the Jammu Srinagar National Highway was closed for a while due to which the passengers faced lot of hardships to reach their destinations.
