Gunfight rages in South Kashmir’s Tral

 

Srinagar: Gunfight has raged between government forces and militants in forest area of Lam village in Tral sub district of South Kashmir, sources said.

They said that Army’s 42 RR launched search operation last evening after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

Sources added that forces today in wee hours started searching in the forest area, and as the searches were intensified, the hiding militants  fired at them, triggering an encounter.

As per preliminary reports, two to three Jaish militants are believed to be trapped in the area.

Heavy exchange of firing was going on when the last reports came in.

Meanwhile an encounter has broken out between militants & government forces at Kund Qazigund area of  South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

According to preliminary reports two Hizbul Mujahdin militants are believed to be trapped.

Official sources said that 9RR and SOG Qazigund cordoned off Nowbug Kund, area of Kulgam after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

The said as the searches were intensified, the hiding militants fired upon the forces triggering an encounter.

Operation was going on when the last reports were filed.
