During current fiscal RDD took up 2003 works under MGNREGA

Pulwama: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Dar today said that Rural Development Department (RDD) has the potential to change the socio- economic profile of the district.

The DDC was speaking at a review meeting of the RDD held here today. The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development, Joint Director Planning and all the BDOs of the district.

The meeting was informed that during current financial year the department took up 2003 works under MGNREGA of which 1453 have been completed. The total number of job card holders in the district is 42,998, of which 33,567   are active and around six lakh man-days were generated so far.

The meeting was also informed that the district has 497 Self Help Groups (SHGs) and more than 40 village organizations formed under JKSRLM (UMEED). “The members of these groups and organizations have collectively saved an amount of Rs 49,09,400,  while as in bank linkage an amount or Rs 4450,000 has been given to 89 groups of SHGs” the meeting was told further.

It was further informed that around 3000 women have opened their individual accounts  and district has 37 automatic milk collection centers in  villages like  Mitrigam, Gangoo, Rajmahal, Tahab, Chandgm, Tumlihall, Wahipora, Dogripora, Wahibugh and Gusoo.

The department has registered 437 beneficiaries under PMAY Grameen against  the target of 975, while 339 have been geo-tagged so far and provided an amount of Rs 1.69 crore .

It was further revealed that the district has achieved distinction in making labor payment through PFMS  from  November1.

The DDC asked the officers to ensure speedy completion of already identified works to speed up the developmental in the rural areas. He directed the officers to closely monitor the implementation of the schemes of the department so that undertaken works are completed within the stipulated time.
