Students brave questions, cold weather collectively

Srinagar: The examination centres designated for class 10th and 12th students lack basic heating and seating arrangement for the students.

This was revealed in the report submitted by the exam inspection teams to the directorate of school education Kashmir.

Interestingly the directorate had constituted six inspection teams to monitor the ongoing annual class 10th and 12th exams conducted by Board of School Education (BOSE).

In their report, the inspection teams have stated that examination centres are without proper seating arrangement and heating facility for students causing inconvenience to them.

“There are various exam centres which are sans basic facilities and students are facing inconveniences while writing their examination,” said one of the committee members who visited various exam centres in South and Central Kashmir districts.

The institution teams have visited Pulwama, Kulgam, Anantnag, Srinagar, Baramulla Ganderbal and other districts to monitor the conduct of exams.

The teams were constituted by the department apprehending copying in these exam centres.

Already, the directorate has changed several exam centres in South Kashmir after receiving complaints of copying, facilitated by teachers deputed for exam duty in these exam centres.

The department has also replaced the staff in various exam centres after receiving complaints of copying.

“We are waiting for inquiry report from concerned chief education officers and deputy Commissioners to take appropriate action against the staff members,” Director School Education Kashmir, G N Itoo said.

The director also acknowledged the lack of facilities in exam centres and said the Department acted upon the feedback submitted by the inspection teams.

“We have placed proper seating arrangement in exams wherever it was required. We are also taking all measures to ensure that students write in their exam in hassle free environment,” he said.

Itoo said the inspection teams are visiting exam centres on daily basis to get the feedback about the conduct of exams as well as facilities provided to the examinees.

The BOSE has designated around 650 examination centres for class 10th students while as 496 for class 12th students respectively.
