Anantnag village faces acute water scarcity


Anantnag: Accusing the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department for ignoring their plight, the residents of Kulghad Achabal area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district here have demanded immediate redressal of their grievances.

The residents told Kashmir Vision that they are facing acute shortage of drinking water.

They said that they are facing acute water scarcity from past one month and are being forced to consume filthy water of a local Nallah.

“Our village is just two kms away from famous water spring Achabal, which supplies water to about 60 villages but due to unknown reasons we have been left without potable water,” they said and demanded immediate restoration of the potable water supply to the area.

“The PHE department has failed to provide potable water to the residents,” they added.

They appealed concerned authorities to ensure proper and immediate water supply to the area so that the water woes faced by the people would end.

The residents added that officials of PHE department have ignored them on all fronts.

Despite repeated attempts, no senior official could be contacted for their version.
