Srinagar: Three bootleggers were arrested and illicit liquor was recovered from their possession in Srinagar and Bandipora districts, a police spokesman said.

Two bootleggers identified as Ram Avaid son of Ram Daresh and Rajesh Chowhan son of Baldev Chowhan residents of U.P at present Saderbal were arrested during a naka checking by police in Nigeen area of the district. Illicit liquor was recovered from their possession.

A case FIR number 147/2017 under section 48 Excise Act was registered investigation was taken up.

Meanwhile, police laid a naka at Gund Dachna in Aragam Bandipora. During naka checking 13 bottles of illicit liquor was seized from the possession of Mehraj Din Bhat son of  Mohammad Maqbool Bhat resident of Plan Bandipora who were travelling in a bus.

A case FIR number 31/2017 under section 48 Excise Act  was registered  and investigation was taken up.
