Dev of Health sector Govt’s top priority: Asiea Naqash

 

Budgam: Minister of State for Health & Medical Education and Social Welfare Asiea Naqash said that development of infrastructure in the health sector is the top priority of the Government so that people, especially those residing in rural and far-flung areas, receive quality healthcare facilities.

The Minister said this after laying the foundation stone of two New Type Primary Health Center (NTPHC) at Chewdora and Ratsun villages at Beerwah Block in district Budgam. The Minister was informed that the estimated cost of these NTPHC is Rs 1.88 crore each and will be completed by next year.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the health care is one of the top priority sectors for the Government. She added that the Government is committed to reach out to rural areas with the latest technology in the field of diagnostic and treatment.

“Government had provided Rs. 134 crores for upgradation of Health centers across the State. Five new medical colleges are under construction, new maternity hospital coming up at Bemina, PET scan facilities will be launched soon in SKIMS, LD hospital will have an additional wing. The Government has a proposal to built accommodation for doctors and paramedical staff near their health centers so that rural people get health care round the clock. It is working round the clock to provide best healthcare facilities to the people. For the Welfare of poor girls, the government had already distributed Rs 10 crore under marriage assistance Scheme.” she said.

Locals appraised various demands to the visiting dignitary and the Minister assured them that their genuine demands will be addressed on priority basis. 

She directed the health department to complete the work of Rs two crore funded PHC Centre at Peth-Muqaam immediately so that the locals get health care facilities at their door-step.

The Minister also directed DC Budgam to macadamize all roads leading to Chewdara and Ratsun villages immediately, besides start renovation work of schools in these villages. She also asked for starting the work on the Beerwah-Ratsun Water scheme on priority basis so that the locals get benefit from it.

Deputy Commissioner Budgam Haroon Malik, Director DHSK Dr. Saleem-u-Rehman, Ex MLA Dr. Mohammad Shafi, PDP Leader Nazir Ahmad Khan, CMO Budgam, BDO Beerwah and other concerned officers were accompanied the Minister.
