Handwara : Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested the head of a seminary for “abducting and raping” a girl in the seminary compound in north Kashmir’s Handwara, reports said.

Reports quoting police officials said that the Police Station Qalamabad received phone calls from the Sherhama locality about some trouble in Darul Uloom following which a team of police headed by SHO Qalambad Ab. Ahad Jan rushed to the spot where they found the Molvi Altaf Hussain Malik S/O Gh Mohi ud Din Malik resident of Hayen Trehgam in a compromised position with a girl.

The reports further said that the girl has recorded a statement and said that she was forcibly abducted by the Molvi from Adoura and taken to the Ialamia Dar Ul Uloom Sherhama.

A case vide  number 68/17  under various sections pertaining to the abduction and outraging the modesty of women has been lodged with Police Station Qalamabad. The accused is said to be the Imam of a Mosque & head of the Darul uloom.
