Girl injured in LoC fire

Srinagar: A minor girl was injured as India and Pakistani armies exchanged fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, reports said.

According to Defence officials, a minor girl was injured after Pakistani army resorted to firing in Karmara sector of Poonch which was effectively retaliated by Indian army.

The injured girl was identified as Gulnaz Akhtar, daughter of Muhammad Nazir, a resident of Karmara.

She was shifted to a hospital for treatment, said the official.

“13 year old Gulnaz injured as Pakistan violated ceasefire at Cheeta Post of Khari Karmara Sector Poonch. Shifted to Hospital,” Police wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Earlier on 13 October, an army jawan and a porter were killed in Krishnagati sector of Poonch when Indian and Pakistani armies exchanged fire at forward areas along the LoC.

Later on October 18, eight civilians, including a two-year-old child, were injured in the exchange of firing by the troops of India and Pakistan in the same sector.
