Srinagar: Following the Joint Resistance Leadership’s call, a complete shutdown is being observed in the valley on Friday.
The resistance leaders, Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik have called shutdown to observe October 27 as a “black day”.
Calling it as “black day and the day of mourning” for the Kashmiris, JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik called for complete shutdown today.
“71 years back India without any constitutional and moral justifications forcibly occupied the state of Jammu & Kashmir on the same day and since then Indian forces are mercilessly killing innocent and unarmed Kashmiris, vandalizing their properties and are involved in sexual assault on women,” said the JRL.
It was on this day in 1947 that the Indian Army landed in Srinagar Airport.
All shops and business houses are closed while as the public traffic is off the roads.
Reports of shutdown have reached from all the ten districts of the valley.
Pertinently, authorities today have imposed strict restrictions in Srinagar parts under Section 144 CrPC in 7 police stations today, police said.
An official spokesman had said yesterday that restrictions under section 144 CrPC will be imposed in Srinagar areas falling under the jurisdiction of seven Police Stations.
