3 security men, civilian injured in grenade explosions


Srinagar: Two grenade attacks in the restive South Kashmir on Thursday afternoon send the entire security setup in a tizzy. The twin explosions in Tral and Damhal Hanjipora left three security men and a civilian injured.

Police sources said that two policemen and a civilian sustained splinter injuries after militants lobbed a grenade on police station DH Pora in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday evening.

A police official said that the militants attacked the police station with a grenade at around 4:30 p.m. resulting in injuries to two policemen and a civilian.

The injured were identified as Police Constable Mohammad Altaf belt no. 824 KGM, SPO Janbaaz Ahmad belt no. 526K and a civilian Mohammad Altaf Magray resident of Watoo village of  district Kulgam.

All the injured were shifted nearby hospital for treatment. Soon after the attack troops surrounded the village and carried out a search operation to nab the culprits, however, no one was arrested during the searches. 

In another incident, suspected militants hurled a grenade on the camp of CRPF 180/ Bn Tral located near Sub District hospital Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

As per preliminary reports one CRPF personnel got injured in the attack. The injured trooper has been identified as Satish Chandra belt no 961270415. The jawan has suffered head injuries and has been rushed to army’s 92 base hospital in Srinagar, police sources added.
