Proper planning led us to expose Hurriyat, says Jaitley

New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday said that proper planning has been formed over the last three years, which has exposed the Hurriyat leaders and their terror funding.

Speaking to a New Delhi based news gathering agency, Jaitley said that in last three years an intelligence network has been formed following which, for the first time, the Hurriyat leaders were exposed before the Kashmiri people.

“Their funding sources were exposed. Their funding sources dried up which led to decrease in the incidents of stone pelting and protest,” he was quoted as saying.

He further said that the police and security agencies are more vigilant in Jammu and Kashmir, causing the militants to rush off their feet.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) earlier this year arrested several of the Hurriyat leaders for funding terror activities in the Valley, with its wires allegedly trailing back to Pakistan.

In July, at least seven separatist leaders, six from Srinagar and one from New Delhi, were arrested by the NIA.

On talks with Pakistan, Jaitley said that Pakistan has to create the right atmosphere for a dialogue with India.

“Pakistan has to create an atmosphere to initiate a dialogue with India. This decision will not be made by the people of Kashmir…”

Recounting the work of the BJP led government, Jaitley said, “The impact of the work that has been done by us in last three years, is visible now. The funds of terrorists have dried up. They are on run. The situation is under control,” he added.
