Militants are stakeholders, New Delhi should include them in talks: Er Rasheed

Srinagar: Awami Itehaad Party (AIP) president and MLA Langate, Engineer Abdul Rasheed Sheikh on Wednesday said that the talks and threats cannot go together.

Langate legislator as per the statement issued here also expressed his displeasure over arresting Shahid Yousf, son of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen’s supreme commander Syed Salahuddin by NIA.

“New Delhi needs to come out of confusions and people have a right to know as to what is the real Kashmir policy of current NDA government. Appointing an interlocutor on one hand to talk to Kashmiri’s but arresting Salahuddin’s son on the other hand makes no sense. Either New Deli should show seriousness in dialogue process and release all political prisoners and stop harassing the families of militants or must not mislead masses in the name of dialogue. Salahuddin’s son is not a criminal so humiliating him or any innocent Kashmiri is unacceptable,” he said.

He reiterated that the militants are the stakeholders and have offered huge sacrifices for resolution of Kashmir issue.

“Sooner or later, New Delhi will have to include militant leadership in talks,” he said, adding that it is because of militants that people have no option but to make talk offers and ignoring them will yield nothing.

Er Rasheed added that New Delhi wants to demoralize Kashmiri’s so that they surrender and talk the choice of New Delhi only.

He however said “let New Delhi understand such stupid and dirty measures have neither had in past and nor will have any takers in future.”
