Geelani condemns arrest of Salahuddin’s son by NIA

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani Tuesday condemned the arrest of Shahid Yusuf, son of Hizb chief Syed Salahuddin, by National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Geelani said that India while resorting to ‘highhandedness’ is desperate to cow down spirits of pro-freedom leadership.

“Syed Salahuddin is a forerunner and a prominent figure in freedom movement,” Geelani said and added that he has dedicated his whole life for ongoing freedom movement.

“India despite all its coercive and arbitrary measures to cow down his spirits, failed,” he said in a statement issued here.

“It is their vain attempt to break and weaken his commitment with movement. These cowardice and suppressive measures won’t dampen the passion and commitment of Pro-freedom leadership,” said Geelani.

Meanwhile, Geelani expressed his heartfelt grief over the demise of daughter of Late Abdul Gani Lone.

“We had cordial and affectionate relations. It is a personnel loss for me,” he said and prayed for her heavenly abode and forbiddance to family to bear this loss.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat (G) spokesman condemned the forces action and vandalising properties in Wagud Tral, saying that the forces are following the aggressive policies of their masters.

“The forces personnel barged into the residential houses, thrashed elderly women including innocent kids to pulp,” added the spokesman.

The spokesman said that this is a deliberate attempt to harass people and make them scare, however they should know that since 1947 “we are facing such situation and these cruelties won’t deter us from our mission.”

The spokesman on behalf of Geelani while expressing his sympathies with victims of violence, impressed to repose faith in almighty Allah, as He is the only guardian and added that with His grace “we will emerge as victorious.”
