Srinagar: Clashes erupted between government forces and protestors during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Chandgam village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.

Sources said soon after cordon was launched youth took to streets and started pelting stones on government forces who retaliated with tear gas shelling triggerring clashes.

Earlier CASO was launched in the area after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

Clashes were going on going on when last reports came in.

Pertinently massive search operation was launched in over dozen villages of Shopian district and in Bellow village of Pulwama district. However the search operations in these villages ended peacefully.
