Srinagar: A shutdown called by separatists and restrictions imposed by authorities has paralysed life across Kashmir valley Saturday.

In view of the Joint Resistance Leadership’s shutdown call against the unabated braid chopping incidents in Kashmir, authorities have imposed strict restrictions in at least seven police station areas of the summer capital Srinagar.

The areas where restrictions under CrPc 144 have been imposed include Rainawari, Nowhatta, Khanyar, Safa Kadal and M R Gunj, Kral Khud and Maisuma Police Stations, an official said.

The restrictions as per the officials have been imposed as precautionary measure.

Contingents of state and central police forces have been deployed in areas placed under restrictions as well as in other sensitive areas in the city.

Meanwhile following the JRL call, a complete shutdown is being observed in Srinagar.

Public transport is seen off the road. Shops, other businesses, educational institutions are closed.

Notably, this is the second successive day when strict restrictions have been imposed in Old city areas of Srinagar.

Yesterday,  JRL had called for protests after Friday prayers against the unabated braid cutting incidents in Kashmir.

Meanwhile , following the separatist call, a complete shutdown is being observed in south Kashmir parts as well.

Public transport is seen off the roads. However private transport is plying normally.

Business establishments  and other educational institutions are closed.

Pertinently, Kashmir University has postponed all the examinations scheduled for today.
