Girl injured after India, Pakistan exchange fire in Uri sector

Srinagar: An 18-year-old girl has suffered splinter injuries after armies of India and Pakistan on Saturday exchanged light mortar shelling across the line of control in Uri.

Officials said that the firing started at around 11 am today in Kamalkote sector near the line of control.

The girl was identified as Nasreena Bano, daughter of Fakeeullah, a resident of  Madya Kamalkote. She was shifted to the hospital in Uri town.

Authorities have shut the primary and middle schools in the area as a precautionary measure, officials said.
