3 army men thrashed on suspicion of being ‘braid choppers’

Baramulla: Three soldiers of Territorial Army were thrashed by a group of youth in main market Sheeri in Baramulla district on Srinagar Muzaffarabad highway on Wednesday.

The youth alleged that the trio was roaming in the area “suspiciously”.

The youth said that the army men were suspiciously roaming in the area and were mistaken as braid choppers. The trio according to witnesses was thrashed badly and handed over to the police later.

However, according to a police official, some ‘miscreants’ stopped a passenger bus near Sheeri and forcibly de-boarded three Army men and started to manhandled them.

“The Army men were posted in Kitchama, Sheeri and were on way to Baramulla to get some searchlights repaired,” he said.

A case has been registered regarding the incident and investigation has been taken up, police added.

Pertinently, on Tuesday agitated people thrashed three army soldiers and set their vehicle on fire after checking their identity cards at Akhal Kangan area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday.

Three Territorial Army personnel travelling in a private Santro Car (JK01R-6187) were allegedly moving in a suspicious manner when a group of people stopped them and checked their identity cards.
