Hizb pays tribute to slain militants

Srinagar: Militant outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen Tuesday paid rich tribute to the three slain militants Umar Khalid, Zahid Ahmed Mir, and Asif Ahmed who were killed in Shopian encounter on Monday.

The outfit has said that these budding militants laid their lives for Islam and the Kashmir Freedom Movement.

As per a statement issued to news agency CNS, Hizb Chief Syed Salahuddin addressed a high level meeting in which he said that India’s presence in Kashmir is due to its military power.

“History is testimony to this fact that no country has ever succeeded to rule on the other on military might,” he said.

Syed Salahuddin said though everyone is fighting for the sacred cause but yet there are elements like Mir Jaffar and Mir Sadiq present in our nation who will meet the same fate as they have met.

While blaming Indian agencies for braid chopping incidents in Kashmir, Syed Salahuddin said that such tactics will bear no fruits for India.

Meanwhile, Thousands of people on Tuesday attended the funerals of three militants including top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen in south Kashmir’s Shopian district amid gun-salute and shutdown.

According to the eyewitness, thousands of people assembled at the respective villages of the trio to offer funeral. Reports and witnesses said that huge number of mourners including women staged massive pro-freedom, pro-Islam and anti-India protests. Reports said multiple funerals were held for Zahid as number of people swelled with each passing time. Militants also offered a gun-salaute to slain Irfan at Hallan Shopian.
