CUK constitutes Central Research Cell to boost research

Srinagar: The Central Research Committee (CRC) of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK), which met under the Chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, here on Wednesday constituted the Central Research Council (CRC).

The functions of the newly established CRC would be to foster a strong research culture, creation of research infrastructure, facilitating strategic research initiatives and benchmark research output, promoting research collaborations at local national and international level and identify the areas and institutions for partnership/ collaboration to support research etc.  The Council, besides Deans of Schools, would have experts from diverse fields including Science, Industries and Social Sciences.   

Among other decisions, it was also decided to enhance the project grant under Minor Research Project from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1.25 lakh. The members also decided to launch research programmes in new disciplines from the next academic session in the varsity and to start direct Ph.D in addition to the existing integrated M.Phil-Ph.D programme.

The meeting was among others attended by the Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, Director Research and Development, Prof. Abdul Gani, Director IQAC, Prof. N A Nadeem, Finance Officer, Bashir Ahmad Haji, Librarian, Prof. A M Baba, Deans of different Schools and other functionaries.

Various decisions related to the delegation of powers to the Deans of Schools were also taken during the meeting.
