State Football League 2017: Novelty FC  to play A-Division semi-final

 

Srinagar: In the ongoing State Football League, four matches were played at Synthetic Turf TRC venue on Sunday. Novelty FC became the fourth team to qualify for the A-Division League while in Premier-Division match Lonestar KFC emerged victorious while in Super-Division, J&K Bank Academy won their match.

Novelty FC defeated Jahangir FC in the semi-final match of A-Division at Synthetic Turf TRC by two goals to nil. Right from the start, Novelty FC players attacked the opposite goalpost and kept the defenders of under pressure. It was Zahid, who displayed his skills and scored both the goals for the winning team. With the victory Novelty FC qualified for the final of the A-Division event while Jahangir FC stands knocked out.

In the Premier-Division match, also played at Synthetic Turf TRC, Lonestar KFC thrashed Food & Supplies XI by four goals to nil. Lone Star opened their account in 30th minute of the play as defender Karun chipped a pass to forward Akif, who made no mistake to convert it into a goal. The Food & Supplies players tried their best to score an equaliser, but couldn’t break the defence line of the opposite team. Akif doubled the lead in 45th minute for Lone Star while in 60th minute Ifaam scored third goal for the winning team. In 85th minute, Lone Star sealed the fate of the match in their favour when Akif scored 4th goal for his team. It was dominating performance from Lone Star team. Akif of winning team was declared as footballer of the match for his performance.

In Super-Division match also played at Synthetic Turf TRC, J&K Bank Academy defeated Lonestar KFC Blue by two goals to one in a closely contested affair. Both the teams played aggressive football throughout the match. Abid opened account for Lone Star Blue but they couldn’t maintain the lead as Ateeb from J&K Bank Academy scored two back to back goals. Lone Star Blue team got several chances to score but wasted all those and when the referee blew final whistle the score line read 2-1.

In the A-Division match, played at Synthetic Turf TRC, Syed Tajudin FC defeated Royal FC by five goals to two. Shoiab scored three goals while Feroz two for the winning team while Farooq and Sajid scored one goal each for the losing team.
