Legislator Er Rasheed was Friday allowed to return home after four days of questioning by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), at its headquarters in New Delhi.

“…..have been allowed to leave for home just now after four days of questioning by NIA in Delhi,” Rashid said.  He said that NIA has asked him to submit the details of his property and bank statements next week.

When asked what NIA questioned him about, Rashid said that “will talk about that in a week’s time.”

Rashid was questioned for four days in alleged terror funding case by the federal agency. He said that he will return to the valley on Saturday.

Rasheed is the first mainstream politician summoned by the investigating agency for questioning in a case related to the alleged funding of terror activities in the Valley.

According to the sources, his name had cropped up during the interrogation of businessman Zahoor Watali, who was arrested by the NIA for allegedly channeling money to terror groups and separatists in the Valley.

Earlier, the NIA had summoned advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom and businessman Muhammad Yasin Khan in the same case. However, both were let off by the agency after thoroughly interrogating them in New Delhi.

Meanwhile, Rasheed had earlier lashed out at Central government for using NIA against Kashmiris and Hurriyat leaders in particular.

Pertinently, the NIA on May 30 had registered a case alleging that Kashmiri resistance groups receive findings. Till date, it has summoned more than a dozen people including resistance leaders, activists, a photojournalist, a Kashmir University Scholar and business leaders.
