Army man killed in Pak firing along LoC in Kupwara

An army soldier was killed and three others were injured in a ‘sniper fire’ by Pakistan Rangers at Keran sector along the Line of Control in north Kashmir Kupwara district on Wednesday.

A senior police officer said  that Pakistan Rangers in “violation of ceasefire” opened the sniper fire at 5/9 GR unit of the army near ‘Pimple post’ in Keran sector along the LoC. Four soldiers were injured and airlifted to army’s 92-base hospital at Badamibagh here, the officer said.

One of the injured identified as Rajesh Khatri was declared brought dead by the doctors at hospital, an army officer confirmed.

He said that army retaliated the fire and intermittent firing was going on in the area.
