Manmohan Singh-led Congress panel arrives in Srinagar

A Congress delegation led by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh along with P Chidambaram, Gh Nabi Azad and Ambika Soni arrived in Srinagar on Saturday for a series of meetings on the current situation in Kashmir, reports said.

The delegation held an Extended Executive Meeting in Srinagar after they arrived here from Jammu.

The Congress’s policy-planning group on Kashmir is in the Valley for two days for talks with party leaders and workers, trade associations and civil societies.

The panel completed the first leg of its tour in Jammu, Congress sources said.

The panel was formed in April this year after the situation in the Valley worsened during the Srinagar Lok Sabha bypolls.

The panel also plans to visit Ladakh later.
