Development of power infrastructure in industrial areas

 

Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga, Wednesday convened a high-level meeting to review the status of projects sanctioned under the Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) for development of power infrastructure at various industrial areas of the State.

Principal Secretary Power Development Department (PDD), Commissioner Secretary Industries & Commerce Department, Development Commissioner Power, Chief Engineers System and Operation (Kashmir and Jammu), Chief Engineers EM&RE (Kashmir and Jammu), Director Planning PDD among other concerned officers attended the meeting.

Various projects including those for development of grid and receiving stations at various industrial areas sanctioned PMDP and other schemes were discussed in the meeting.

The meeting was informed that tenders for development of power infrastructure at Ghatti, Samba, Bari Brahmana, Lassipora and Khunmoh industrial areas have already been floated while as e-NIT for transmission projects at Lassipora, Khunmoh, Samba and Kathua-II industrial areas have been finalized and shall be floated soon.

The Minister directed for expediting the process of tendering and stressed on its completion within the stipulated timeframe.

With regard to the Industrial Estate at Digiana, it was informed that the development of power infrastructure here shall be completed in this financial year.

During the meeting, it was also decided that work on Battal Ballian Industrial Estate in Udhampur shall also be taken up under the PMDP.

The meeting was also informed that DPRs for development of power infrastructure at various other industrial areas including Zainakote, Baramulla, Sopore, Kupwara, Birpur, Akhnoor, Kishtwar and Bhaderwah – under PMDP have also been submitted to the Ministry of Power GoI.
