CASO ends peacefully in South Kashmir areas

Government forces on Saturday cordoned off over half a dozen villages and vast orchards of Shopian and Kulgam districts in South Kashmir.

Police sources said that Army’s 62 RR, 9RR, CRPF and SOG early today launched a massive Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in a vast area.

Search operation was launched in the area after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants, police sources added.

As per sources, the villages which are under siege  include Kader, Dadarkot, Akhipur, Khee Jogipura, Avhotu, Renipura, Khassipora, Zaipura, Trenz, Mohanpora, Khurampora villages and adjacent areas of twin districts of South Kashmir.

Same kind of searches operation were launched on May 4, August 19, August 28,  September 5, however all these operation  ended peacefully.

As per sources, door to door searches were conducted during the operation.

Meanwhile, a second massive CASO was carried out in Shopian and Kulgam villages for around six hours.

Soon after the first cordon ended, forces launched a massive cordon of all those areas of Shopian Kulgam districts that were under siege during morning hours.

According to the sources, forces, after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area sealed the entry and exit points. However, both the search operations ended peacefully.
