Protests in Safakadal, Nowshera against Rohingya killings

Protests erupt in old city’s Safakadal and Nowshara area after Friday prayers, reports said.

According to the reports, hundreds of protesters marched against the atrocities on Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

Meanwhile, authorities had imposed restrictions in parts of Srinagar as a precautionary measure as the separatist group had called for protests today against the killings of Rohingya Muslims in Burma.

The curbs were put into place in the downtown areas of Srinagar.

Separatist groups had earlier this week urged the people to hold peaceful protests against the Rohingya Muslim killings after congregational prayers.

Police has erected barricades at several places and people’s movement has been hampered.

Condemning the killings and persecution of Rohingya Muslims, Hurriyat (M) chairman and chief cleric of Kashmir, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Tuesday said that September 8 will be observed as “Solidarity Day” with the victims.
