Minister calls for united effort to preserve JK’s green gold

Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology Choudhary Lal Singh, Thursday called for a united effort from all factions of the society to preserve the green gold of the State.

The Minister said this while addressing the convention on Forest Protection organized by Jammu and Kashmir Forest department, here today.

The Minister stressed on the need for people to come together to save forest resources and urged upon functionaries from the forest department to unite communities and educate them on the role they can play in protecting the forests.

The Minister asked the officers to take a strict view of the forest land encroachment and work round the clock to safeguard the green land of the State.

On the occasion, the Minister was apprised about the demands and issues faced by the officials who perform their duties in forests.

While responding to the demands, the Minister said that all the issues and demands will be redressed in a time-bound manner.

The function was also hosted for the oath ceremony for elected State and Provincial Presidents. Nazir Ahmad Mir on the occasion was administered the oath as State President While Ghulam Nabi Kelam as Provincial President.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Chief Conservator of Forest Kashmir, Additional Principal Chief Conservator, Chief Conservator Settlement and Demarcation, Chief Conservator CAMPA and other officers were present on the occasion.
