Noctorinal clashes erupt as forces lay siege to Pulwama village

Intense stone-pelting clashes erupted at Kareemabad in Pulwama district after government forces launched a cordon and search operation this evening following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

According to reports,  army’s 55 RR, SOG Pulwama and 182, 183 battalions of CRPF this evening cordoned off Kareemabad and launched search operation as they suspect presence of militants in the area.

While forces started searches, locals pelted stones on them and tried to disrupt the anti-militant operation. The forces responded by firing teargas shells to disperse the stone-throwers.

Local sources said that announcements were made through mosque loudspeakers of Kareemabad about forced operation and residents were urged to come out of their houses and protest.

The clashes amid cordon in the area were on at the time of filing of this report while forces had installed lights to prevent militants from fleeing in case they were trapped.
