Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Tuesday met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh here.
According to official sources, both leaders discussed matters concerning the State. Significantly enough the meeting comes close on the heels of series of developments related to Article 35-A.
Sources said that the two leaders discussed the security situation in the state and measures that need to be taken to improve the security scenario in the volatile areas of Kashmir Valley.
The two leaders also discussed the scenario that will emerge post the resignation of Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra who is likely to resign from his post. Vohra, who still has ten months left to complete his term could submit his papers this week. Vohra, is currently serving his second term after he took over from SK Sinha on June 25, 2008.
Reports said that the Centre is looking out for a replacement for Vohra.
Vohra who took over from S K Sinha on June 25, 2008 was the first civilian governor of state in 18 years after Jagmohan.
“Vohra is being replaced by a senior administrator, who has a fair knowledge and understanding about Kashmir,” sources privy to the development said.
